Hi, I will be taking next year's violin practical exam on March.

I am taking the piece 'Romance' as one of my exam piece, anyone also taking that?

I have problem practicing in tune for that piece because of all the shifting and changing of positions.

But I wonder why it is still considered as 'Easy Piece'.

Anyone having problems with this 'easy' piece too?

Or should I say that my standard is still too low to take Grade 5 exam??sad.gif

In what way do you mean it's considered an "easy piece"?

Some composers have composed pieces which they have called "Easy" for one reason or another that are very difficult indeed for learners. So if you're worried because it's called "Romance from 5 easy pieces" or whatever, then don't worry - it's all relative!!

However at grade 5 you can expect a fair amount of shifting etc, so you do need to just keep practising till it becomes more confident. Have you tried practising the shifts in isolation etc? Keep working on it smile.gif

I have an adult student learning this and so far it hasn't given them too many problems. From the B list the Rieding Romance is probably one of the easier pieces actually!
