I was thinking of getting a Violin Strad pad but i wasnt sure what size to get - medium(regular) or Large(deluxe)
If anyone has any of these sizes please could you tell me the dimensions of them? I was thinking of just getting the large one - and i'm going to be getting the elastic model because i dont like the idea of sticking velcro to my chinrest. Thanks

It's a foam-latex cover for your chinrest, they come in elasticated and self adhesive versions.
Not sure on the sizing but I have a friend that uses the stick on version and it is pretty large.
Totally covers a Guarnerious chinrest and the metal fittings.

...and they pong something rotten after a few months of use, so be prepared to change them fairly frequently.

Probably easier and cheaper in the long run to buy a chamois leather and cut squares off it to place over the chin rest.
Or try something like the Gel Rest. http://www.gelrest.com/

Personally I don't have a great deal of problems with chinrest discomfort, nature blessed me with ample padding in that area. huh.gif
I think it pays to keep your chinrest (and chin) clean though.

Could you not contact/visit the shop you are going to buy it from, tell them which chinrest you have and ask which Strad Pad size would fit?

Hello,

I use a strad pad, but it's kind of difficult to give you the dimensions. It's shaped like a chin rest, I use the deluxe one that fits over my Guarneri Model chin rest. I use the one with velcro, I didn't know elastic model existed, but I like the velcro, it's secure and sticking it on tmy expensive boxwood chin rest has not caused any problem. I have replaced mine, once or twice and taking the velcro off wasn't a problem.
I have a catalogue from a mail order company (Arc Verona) and they sell their strad pad for £15.40 for Deluxe (small one is £11.20) which is about the cheapest place I know of. Their order line number is 01794-515556 if you are interested. Give them a call, they are usually very helpful.

I hope this helps.
