So I'm a grade 3 violinist and I've only just ordered a shoulder rest (Viva Original - in red!Funky!).

And I wondered if there was anything special you had to do to break into a shoulder rest or adjust it for yourself?

There's no magical method, or breaking in. Just adjust it to suit what feels comfortable to you.
