I was practising this morning and noticed that I had missed my 33rd Anniversary of Kreutzer 2 yesterday. My copy of the Kreutzer Etudes has the dates when my teacher gave them to me to work on written in his thick black pencil. I dont normally notice but suddenly realised that I first did Kreutzer 2 on 12/10/74, and I hadn't even celebrated.

I now play at least some of it almost every time I practise.

What a lovely idea.

I have some, but not all, of my music from the mid 1960s, complete with teacher's comments and I wish now that I had dated each one.

When I returned, I did start dating each piece, exercise etc that I do and it is a nice record.
(I also put them in my book of lists - does anyone else have a book a lists??

My teacher gave me the Kreutzer book about 2 months ago and I love Kreutzer 2 - 66+ bowing variations or not! biggrin.gif I'm working on 3 at the moment, but 2 is nicer.

For the record, I've just looked it up in my notebook and I started Kreutzer 2 on 30.07.07. smile.gif

YES! I love lists!!
Strangely, I hadn't thought of listing my violin exercises/pieces but now that you've mentioned it, I have an overwhelming urge to go and write them all down...
I am slightly obsessed with lists LOL.

I've just this morning found Kreutzer in a pile of old music my Dad gave me. It's an ancient copy tongue.gif I'll give it a try this week I hope.

I would start putting the dates on pieces but I doubt I have 33 playing years left because I'm getting really OLD and it's my BIRTHDAY on SATURDAY and I feel OLD and GREY and STIFF and should probably take up CROCHET instead of the violin .... laugh.gif party1.gif

I also found my music notebook from 1974 where my teacher wrote all my piano notes.. it's got quite a few "good work" and "nice playing" comments in it and I was only totty-wee laugh.gif

But I love lists too and I also love notebooks (the two go very well together) so I might start my own bibliography of violin music because I must have at least a dozen books now rolleyes.gif

How exciting!

I've just got a new teacher who's got me going back to basics, so I'm back on Eta Cohen book 3. It's so funny seeing all these pieces that I played about fifteen years ago! :S
