Wow, last night was a great night for stringed instruments. Roy Harper and Joanna Newsom's Ys Streetband performed to a packed house at the Royal Albert Hall last night. She played her entire Ys album, a lot of Milk-Eyed Mender, and a couple of new ones too. She got a standing ovation both for an encore and for her final number. Brilliant stuff! My only real gripe was the violin and mandarin drowned out her beautiful harp playing at times.

I wish I had - its a bit far for me to travel though! What was it like? Do you have any videos that you could post on youtube? I like her Milk-Eyed Mender album the best. Her harp playing is brilliant...her voice is certainly different too!! Did she have her lovely gold Lyon and Healy harp with her? Interesting that she was playing with other people too. What were the new songs like?
Its great that you got to see her perform live. I hope its inspired you to play even more, that always happens to me if I see someone brilliant play!
