Hi Jazzers,

Just wondering if anyone is doing any Jazz Grades on Soprano Sax in November?

In case your interested, I'll be attempting Grade 5 ! My pieces are:

Tin Roof Blues
At a Georgia Camp Meeting &
Small World

The pieces seem to be coming along quite well, but Scales still need a bit of work (ain't it always the way!).

Anyway, best of luck to you all in the Exam, no doubt we will share results in December !

Cheers for Now -Dwrglas-Y-Gwynt- unsure.gif

My Daughter has been looking at Grade 5 Jazz Flute, she's not taking it in November though, one of the pieces she likes is At A Georgia Camp Meeting. She's leaning towards playing Charleston at the moment though, along with Blue Connotation and The Wedding. She's got too much else on to take the exam this time so it will probably be in the next session, learning the scales is part of the reason.

The Wedding is a lovely piece, nice to play and good to listen to. I did it for my Grade 4 (Alto Sax) exam. Should sound wonderful on the flute. Best of luck to your daughter when she does the exam.

Some of the grade 5 jazz flute pieces are indeed lovely.

I'm working my way up slowly because I want to get competent at jazz not just pass exams, so I am doing grade 2 this time.

I actually LIKE the jazz scales... unsure.gif ph34r.gif

Must actually decide which pieces I'm going to do for grade 2...

We've just found a Jazz Flautist willing to work with our daughter who doesn't live too far away. Hopefully she'll be able to play Jazz and not just do it for exams too. Not that she ever just plays exam pieces and she enjoys playing Jazz on Sax too, no thoughts of any exams here though.
