ohmy.gif Got a bit of a dilemma!!!! Yes, another one!

This time I've been playing a full-size violin for the last couple of weeks and have had no problems with intonation etc and have actually really enjoyed the 'feel' of it... wub.gif

... so much so that going back to my 7/8 feels quite uncomfortable (shhhh I haven't told Claudia yet)

Is it time to trade-up to a full-size already? I thought this might happen as my fingers stretched but I didn't think I'd come to prefer the feel of a full-size quite so soon.

Poor Claudia (my 7/8) - she'll be heartbroken (and does this mean it's time to look for another fiddle??? ohmy.gif )

Stretch a bit more and you'll end up on a viola laugh.gif

Well I do love the sound of the viola - wonder if I could 'stretch' it to buying a new viola as well.... laugh.gif

I used to be much more 'romantic' in my youth and if you asked me this I would have said....'poor Claudia, maybe you can share?', but now am much more 'to the point': if 4/4 feels better then swap Claudia for a 4/4 ph34r.gif muahaha.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif I'm sure she will find a new loving home laugh.gif

Much as it pains me to say this (and I'm whispering so Hamish won't hear - although we're not talking since he spat his e string at me in the middle of a particularly fast set of reels in the session last night. Bad fiddle.) I think it may be time to pass Claudia on to someone else and move onto a full size fiddle. You could always get another gama and start the love affair all over again, but Claudia has done her job and needs to move on.

Still, you're a heartless one, Lottie. I don't know how you can look that fiddle in the scroll...

Get a 4/4 (or give up all dignity and plead horribly and embarassingly with your dad until he lets you use his more)

agree.gif If going back to the 7/8 feels uncomfortable, then finding a 4/4 is justified imo.

Pierre sends his deepest condolences to Claudia though. He's already warned me about abandoning him for a larger specimen so I'd best practice the viola in the shed. ph34r.gif

I'm such a baaaaad person of totally questionable morals.....

A couple of weeks ago I 'borrowed' Dad's fiddle to "put new strings on and re-hair the bow as his birthday present"!!!!!

Well it was Dad's birthday on Saturday so I took him a card and a box of little lemon cakes. He looked and looked under the table, in the car, behind my ears and nowhere was his fiddle to be seen. I just pushed the cake plate towards him with that sort of smile only a daughter can muster. I muttered something about the fiddle not being 'ready' yet and beat a hasty retreat staring hard at the floor and then felt not one iota of guilt as I played Pachabel's Canon on it's lovely singing body later that day.

I'm clearly a defective daughter.

HOWEVER, Dad hinted that if he had a full-size fiddle to play I could have his one on long-term loan if that's what I wanted so am I just convincing myself Claudia is too small for HIS fingers.......????

(OK, the guilt makes my Bach all wobbly....)
