I've been waiting for ages for the CD's to go with the new violin syllabus. I want to listen to the alternative pieces before deciding what pieces I to learn - it's so frustrating!!!! mad.gif

If you look at the scores, can you not hear the music in your head as you read them?

I haven't got the scores! I want to listen to the pieces before I buy the alternative pieces. If I bought all the Grade 6 music I'd be bankrupt! Some of the pieces are from books priced £10+ That's why I want the CD, to listen to them all first before I buy! laugh.gif

I agree with you appassionata, I'm waiting for the grade 5 CD but it's not due until December sad.gif . I too like to hear the alternative pieces, meanwhile I'm just practicing the scales, but next week my lessons start again so I'll ask my teacher to play the ones in the book for me. biggrin.gif.

What a gift it must be, to be able to hear the the tune in your head by reading the score.

December!!! Oh no sad.gif I want to do my exam in March. I suppose I'll have to either just do the ones in the book or take a chance and buy some of the alternative pieces. That's so unfair as the piano ones are out.

Kodaly-trained children in Hungary can easily read scores and hear the music in their heads - it's all about training and isn't a gift!!!

But actually I agree with you all that it's a pain that the CD's won't be out for a while, because a lot of people like to play along with the piano accompaniment when they practise.

Why couldn't the AB be organised enough to get them out at the same time as the new syllabus I wonder? The Grade 8 violin syllabus was released a lot later than it was supposed to be too - what's going on?!!!
