Now I have got digital TV and BBC4 I am looking forward to being able to watch all of the event not just the Final but when is the next one please?

No its always been every three years, and there was one last year, so 2009 it is.
I have been to some of the earlier rounds of the last two at the University.

Thanks for that I honestly thought it happened every year...its almost like the Piano Olympics!

Thanks for the replies. I had thought it was biennial but I am getting confused with BBC Young Musician of the Year. Thanks for the link.

It might just as well be the Olympics, can only imagine the physical effort contestants have to put it.

Not all of it is on BBC4 - only the final 6 piano concerti. I think there's one behind-the-scenes style programme with bits and pieces of people's performances in the earlier rounds, but overall the coverage is pretty poor. You'd think with the repeats they do on BBC4, showing the same programme six times in a week, there'd be room in the schedule for a bit more footage sad.gif.

AP and I went to the two final nights last year, it was our first time of going and we hope to go again in 2009 smile.gif.
