Lukino
Hi guys,

I really wanted to learn this piece since i heard (is this true by the way???) that it's the easiest of Chopin's nocturnes, but i've struggled to find the score anywhere!!! Any ideas where i could get it? (for free of course!)

Thanks in advance,

Luca

Opus number?

Is this it? If not, look around that site, you might find it:

Nocturne
The number of the 21 is KKIVb Nr. 8 (no opus) and it is hard to find on the internet. If you want to try it out maybe you can find it in a library.

Given your name i gather you know a bit about nocturnes...i read in a forum that this is the easiest nocturne (at level 6) do you reckon this is so?
Nocturne
Sorry I don't know. The only reason I have this name is because I like the night biggrin.gif !

Maybe it's one of those things you just have to buy. dry.gif
If I want music my first port of call is usually a music shop, either 'real' or online.

FAQsmilie.png - They have a big long list of sites that have online sheet music. If you can't find it anywhere there, then you'll have to buy it!

My personal favorite is www.mutopiaproject.org

Too right, I was thinking the same thing! laugh.gif Thanks for the site... just found Rachmaninov's Tarantelle for 2 Pianos - been searching for that one for ages. Now, if only I could find that Scriabin's Nocture for Left Hand! tongue.gif

I think I'd be kidding myself to think I would be able to print out all 40 pages of it on the school printer without anybody noticing... mind you, I managed to get away with printing off the whole of Gaspard de la Nuit (well, I'm about 3/4 of the way there) - not all at the same time, of course! ph34r.gif wink.gif

EDIT: Wow, it's got everything! Even got that Soler piece for Grade 8!!! Darn, I wish I'd found out about this last year...! Oh well! Oh, look: the whole set of Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals! smile.gif

That C Minor is not to be found in most editions of the Nocturnes because its an Opus Posth.
Not to be confused with the other one in C Minor which is more difficult.
But the easiest of all is a G Minor one (Not the earlier one 5 or 6, its about no 11, but I dont have the book handy)

Are you referring to the no. 6 in Gm (Op. 15 no. 3) or the no. 11 in Gm (Op. 37 no. 1)?
What grade would it be?

I really like tghe Gmin Op. 15 no. 3. My teacher recons it's grade 7, but it's nice and slow so you take you time.

Yes I agree that Op15 No 3 is about Grade 7. Not much harder than No 11, It starts easy enough but the notes are bit complicated later on,

It's the last section I really like - "religioso" (I think). That bit's quite easy too, such simple chords (very unusual for Chopin) I can't understand why it sounds so good! Pity the middle section's so complicated!

So does it seem that in fact the No. 21 In C Minor is not really the easiest?

I still think No 11 in G Minor is the easiest !

No 2 (Eflat) , No 6 (G Minor) and then No 21 (C# Minor) probably next.

Then one of the two in B Major (its about No 9 I think, not the later one) is nice, though its an awkward key.
Just get used to the notes and its not so difficult.

I play that Scriabin Nocturne for the Left hand and also the Left hand prelude. but i redistributed them for both hands, it may not be what he intended, but doing that gives you more pedalling options. to anyone who can play that nocturne with the left hand alone.... Respec'...

I walked into my school library, printed a good 50 pages of orchestral music (Score and a couple of parts!) and walked out again with large shaf of paper... It was practically empty, and I didn't get stopped or anything!

Sorry, slightly offTopic.gif

I'm nowhere near good enough to play all these pieces that are being discussed here sad.gif

Anyone know any other sites for music scores?
I've suddenly got an urge to play Schindler's list, it having come up on my iTunes.... wub.gif wub.gif

Here's another good one I found that's not on the list:
http://pianosociety.com/cms/index.php?section=6

It doesn't have the most Sheet Music in the world, but it does occasionally have the odd piece that you might not find elsewhere! smile.gif

Unfortunately, it doesn't have the sheet music for the piece in question, but it has a recording of it!
