How do you cancel out a double flat or sharp? For example, if the key is D major, and an F has a double sharp sign in front of it, how do I get it back to and F#? I am completely confuzzled, hope one of you geniuses can help!

Just write F sharp, i.e. write only one sharp - this means that the previous double sharp is cancelled and no longer applies.
(Previously, one would write a natural and sharp together to show that one sharp has been cancelled.)
