The flight of the bumble bee, well if you have played it, is it really hard?
Although I havent yet played it. What grade is it for?

I suppose the tempo would be the highest number, tick, tick, tick ect ect biggrin.gif

I have attempted it on flute (badly I must add).
It's okay at a slow speed, but the piece is intended to go VERY fast. I think it's more a piece to test out technical ability.
I would imagine it's a gr.8 piece unsure.gif .
I found it on the web and printed it off for free smile.gif

EDIT: unfortunately I don't play piano, so don't know what it would be like for this.

I've heard the piano version - it sounds like post grade 8 smile.gif Then again, I've never tried playing it so it might be easier than it sounds!
Clariano
I've heard a clarinet version of it. It sounds really difficult!
Tortellini
Have a look here - looks quite hard to me!

It depends on what version you have. The one being played on the link above is the Rachmaninoff version which is one of the more common ones. It is also one of the more simple ones available and I'd say a good g6-7 pianist could play this. The most difficult aspect of this piece would be the tempo but patient practice will help you overcome this. Getting the notes is quite easy, playing it quickly without getting tired though, is not. Remember to start off slowly first then pick up the speed little by little.

I would guess it's above grade 8. You would really have to be good at chromatic scales to play it! I really like this version

This one here is pretty cool - it's for 8 Pianos!! blink.gif

I saw him on Classic FM TV and he was pretty amazing. Did you know that he called his daughter Leeloo (y'know ... from the Fifth Element)? I think that's wicked smile.gif Anyway, I reckon that the Flight of the Bumblebee would be after grade 8. Definitely. Still, it's a good goal to work towards! I've had a go at it on oboe and it's difficult, but can you imagine how rewarding it would be to be able to play it perfectly!? It's a worthy challenge.

To play it on the piano anywhere near the piano versions I've heard on the radio must be post grade 8 but to play it well enough to impress your friends (or girlfriend) then grade 8 (unless she's better than you tongue.gif)

I can play it on flute and I've done my grade 5 - but now doing grade 6/7 pieces. It's really only chromatics. The problem with wind instruments is finding where to breathe.

*Claps* Now I feel like I'm really bad at flute. I've just started grade 4 scales. It's deciding when to take the exam is the problem. I'll have to take it before easter or get my teacher to say I can't do the exam the week I'll have my SATS. You do remember to breathe don't you?

Awh, I'm sure you're not bad at flute - I just practice obsessively (having OCD doesn't help tongue.gif).

And yes....I do remember to breathe. It's just hard finding places to do it in FOTBB!!
