Full Version: I Have Had A Piano Lesson

Robodoc
I put in a thread earlier this week that I was going to do this thing and along with some (un)helpful (but fun) comments in Russian you were all very supportive. Now it's happened and here's the news.

She's good: Allegedly former faculty teacher at the St Petersburg Conservatory (I'm impressed, I think).

She has agreed to take me on (hooray!) but for 45 minute lessons, not 30.

My scales and arpeggios are rubbish (how could I fluff a simple G major scale for goodness sake?) but then I already knew that.

Surprisingly she's taken my chosen repertoire in her stride and left me with it, for the moment at least. I was half expecting her to say my technique was so poor we would have to go back to basics, and I would have done it, but she seems to think I'm at the right level with a good balance in my choices (Bach, Chopin, Debussy, Joplin). She seemed pleased that I had got these pieces to my current level in only 2 months; This despite the fact that I was terrible today ( I suspect due to a lack of warm-up).

So there you are: She's brilliant, I'm not. But I'm not rubbish either!!

(unhelpful comment - sorry rolleyes.gif )

45 mins probably will be necessary with that sort of repertoire.

Live in Chorley, work in Preston (and Chorley), lesson in Blackburn, hoping to be good enough to do Chethams summer piano thing for adult learners next summer (this summer will be too early).

I was more than half expecting her to say an hour: I suggested an hour once a fortnight but she was adamant - a fortnight is too long between lessons. I learned mine!
