I have been learning since december 2006 and am now just past grade 2 and yes...I was always dreaming for a piano but have no space for it in the living room (I share the house with a friend) so have been learning on a digital piano keyboard so far...which has been ok.
Today it finally 'struck' me how much I long for a piano and how much I don't want to wait 3 or 4 years until we extend the house to have one! So I made a decision which at first sounded 'scary' but now am VERY HAPPY to have made it!
I am getting rid of my king size bed in my bedroom (which is on ground floor) and buy BUNK BEDS to replace it! that will free up enough room to put a 'small upright piano' in my room after all I am a single mother and have nobody to share the kingsize bed with (quite happy with being single too and not planning on any romance ), bunk beds for when my friend comes to visit then I have a spare bed (we'll have to fight over the top bunk )
Well....it was the best decision I have made in a looooooooooong time!
I am having a Yamaha B2 delivered next thursday and yes, I could have gone for a second hand better piano or saved up for another one, but have tried it in shop and am happy enough with it, I just could not face hunting for a second hand one (I guess at the end of the day whatever one is happy with hey?)
so anyway, wanted to share my 'excitement' with you all about my first ever acoustic piano in my life!!!

Well done..you will never regret it!!!! There seems to be no comparison between a digital and an acoustic piano. I have my old family Bechstein (102 yrs old) and wouldn't part with it for the world. I think that it is possible to be in love with your piano you know.

I should, but I don't know anyone who plays the piano would be nice if I did, do some duets etc... oh well, I'll play to my cats LOL they seem to like it (unlike when I play violin, they all want to flee the house then! )

I am in digital piano world and I have to say I am green with envy! That is so exciting! I hope you have many a happy time playing away.

As for the cats, my cat trys to beat me up if I start singing! She starts running at my feet and eating my socks! She runs and hides when my boyfriend plays the trumpet, but doesn't mind the recorder. They are obviously all very picky about what music they listen to!

good for you! a piano is so different to a keyboard and if you want to get good you really need a piano. bunk beds? why not just get a single bed and not a king-size?

well, this is the good opportunity to have extra 'sleeping room' in my place...with the king size bed I have NO ROOM left to fit an extra 'inflatable bed/camping bed' in there and I don't want to share a bed with friends when they come to visit (we are close friends but not that close ) so now if I get bunk beds intstead of a single bed when my friend comes to visit from abroad, she can take one bed and I'll take the other (we would not entertain sharing a single bed ever!). That way she does not have to sleep on the couch and I can play the piano to help her get to sleep LOL LOL I am a 'big kid' at heart anyway and I'll probably always sleep on the top bunk and jump out of it in the mornings
