Hey,
I am thinking of applying to go to this summer school and was wondering if anyone on here was going and what they thought of it, if anyone has been previously.
Thanks biggrin.gif

Probably worth doing a search - there are people who've been and I'm sure there have been previous threads smile.gif

There was a thread about this a while ago. I will be going for my 5th summer school. It is absolutely fantastic with a first rate faculty. This year, Noriko Ogawa, Peter Donohoe, Philip Fowke and Bernard Roberts are going to be teaching and performing as well as many others. It is a pianist's paradise!

I would urge you to go if you can.

This sounds interesting!!!

Is it in the Summer Holidays? Is there a charge? must I audition? WIll I be ready if I am working towards grade 6 at the moment?

If it's too early, I'll definitely go next year!!!!!!!!!

You can read all about it here.
You should have grade 6 distinction.

I'm really excited about going this year. When I started an earlier thread about it , everyone who'd been was extremely positive about it & that helped me to make up my mind. It seems that once people have been once, they keep going every year. I'm still frantically saving the money, but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

My 10 year old would love to go, he's never been on a piano course but has done lots of music residential and thrives on them. However he is still too young to be considered for this sad.gif

For those that have been previous years, do you think 10 is too young for this or do you think we should try? What's the youngest age you've come across/average age?

. . . or equivalent.

Mind you, what is equivalent? Grade 7 pass? or merit? Grade 8 bare pass?

It suggets a minimum age orf 13 & standard of grade 6 distinction. I would have thought 10 was rather young for this particular course, but if you think he's really ready for it, you could contact them & ask. It is possible to go & watch for individual days, so you could always go along for a day or two this year & see whether you think it would be right for him.

He passed grade 6 with high honours last year when he was 9 and is working towards grade 7 at the moment and has started jazz piano. Don't think ability is a problem possibly social side with the age... that's why I'm curious to the youngest they have with exception!

Why not telephone and ask frumpybabes?
The organisers will have all the relevant information and be able to tell you about their pastoral care.
