Hi everyone

I am looking for chamber music for a 2-violins-and-piano instrument combination. I am having trouble finding music that is actually a trio with this instrument combination as opposed to a violin duet with piano accompaniment.

So far I have found *Sarasate Navarra *Moskowski Suite *Sinding Serenade *Milhaud Sonata *Martinu Sonatina. Any other ideas would be great!

That is the usual set up for trio soanatas so there should be hundereds of peices out there for you to play from the era or trio sonatas. This was usually 2 violins and a continuo (Harpsichord or Cello). Or you could write one - they are very easy to do.

Well the obvious thing is to play the Dark Bubble with two violins and a piano. Sorry Bach 'Double' for 2 violins in D Minor. I played this as a piano part at Lincoln Hall concert , Uni of Nottingham in 1966.

Thanks for all your ideas. biggrin.gif

Yes there are heaps of trio sonatas that I have found but of course they are all Baroque, and I was actually hoping to find something Romantic or 20th/21st century if possible!

Yes the Bach Double is a great piece! But my sister (piano) and me (violin) learnt it with various other people about 5 years ago and we're hoping to find something new to do now that we are doing the 2-violins-and-piano instrument combination again (for a few years we did piano trios and some piano-clarinet-and-violin trios).

And the Shostakovich are violin duos/duets (whatever you like to call them), so the piano part is only really an accompaniment...

Argh!! It is proving more difficult to find suitable music than i thought it would be... tongue.gif

I'm sure I've seen an arrangement of Elgar Salut d'Amour and/or Chanson de Matin for 2 violins and piano too.............although you might think these are duets plus accompaniment too.

The Peters Edition is slightly edited, ie. they've not put the more difficult duos into their book.

There is another edition, by another publisher, whose name eludes me at this moment. But it's the complete set of duos.
