Hi,

I was wondering what other classical guitarist use to sit whilst playing? I tend to just use an ordinary chair, like a dinning room chair.

For guitar grade 5 though, I have need to take my own chair along with me incase there aren't any chairs where the exam is being held blink.gif . There is no way I'm going to be able to take a dinning room chair along with me (carrying my guitar case is hard enough! wacko.gif ), so I was think of investing in a stool.

I've been looking around and guitar stools are quiet expensive, but I've been told using a drummer's stool (which is cheaper, much cheaper) is just as good. I have used them in the past and they tend to move around a bit while you play, some making creaking noises too!

Does anyone know of any other options? Or any cheaper guitar stools, or better dummers stools?

Thanks in advance,
LG

Hi Lisa

I tend to use any old chair when I'm playing out and about and the dining chair with a cushion for at home. I would'nt think it mattered as long as you have you own height adjustable foot stool. The exam centre is bound to have a chair available but if you are worried why not give them a call. You could always whip the one from under the examiner!! laugh.gif blink.gif

If you're getting a drummer's chair, make sure it's not one of those swivelling ones... could be a problem.

I normally just sit where I sit.

Have you looked at the stools that IKEA do? Cost about fifteen pounds, are reasonably lightweight, and fit into the boot comfortably.

Picked up one for Mini Mozarta from the music department in Selfridges last year. Cost approximately £30. Good for correct posture during practice so well worth investment!
