Some 'more mature' players might like to know about the Yorkshire Late Starters String Orchestra (a registered charity, sister organisation to East London Late Starters) which meets at West Park Centre in Leeds on Saturday mornings. Its primary function is to provide a medium for late starters (or returners) of string instruments to enjoy group music making. A number of tutors come from Opera North and extra events include an annual residential weekend and occasional specialist afternoons such as contemporary, baroque or folk. I wish I could come along but live miles away, even the east london orchestar is too far for me really (although it would not be impossible for me to go it would cost me too much in travel plus you have to pay the orchestra too).

I'd love to join this, but they are, of course, on at a time when I can't go! sad.gif They're only a short bus ride away from me too....

elizabeth_rb - you don't need to be a member to join in the occasional events or the residential weekend!
Do contact the site if you'd like more details or to be put on the mailing list.

Mm, that's a good idea! I have their site bookmarked already and, when I can actually use the bow, I might even think about it!!! laugh.gif
