I'm doing
A Regoudon & trio
B Romance
C Down by the river side

A What can I do to make my fingers work faster without the bad sound?
B My teacher said 'try practicing vibrato', but I don't know how to do it.
C not much of a problem.

I think it's a good combination for the exam.

I think personally that the Rigaudon and Trio is too had for grade 3, it's more like a grade 4 piece, but if you are enjoying it then....I would have gone for the Watkin's Ale or the Beethoven, which is a lovely melody, but that's only my opinion.

Vibrato is only a requirement for Grade 5, but it's never too soon to start I suppose.

I'm taking g3 but difficulty isn't a problem. I played the beethoven over a year ago anyway

Your teacher said to try practicing vibrato. Assuming you haven't done it before, how can you do it? You should ask your teacher to perhaps start teaching you vibrato and which parts to apply it. Like AmandaL said in one of the threads, many beginners tend to use vibrato for every single note, which is wrong. smile.gif

Yeah, I know waht you mean.It looks realy silly if you do that.
My teacher might not show me how to do it untill I pass G3 or preparing for G5. It's just experimenting with the fingers and TRYING to do vibrato.

I definitely thought this too. It is a hard piece for the grade 3 syllabus but it is lovely though.

I don't find the notes hard. I find the fast bit difficult though.

I was the opposite. I found Rigadon and Trio ok as a grade 3 piece, and did it as my GCSE solo performance. I certainly found it a LOT easier than the grade 4 pieces.

A good selection of pieces though. As for the vibrato - try not to worry too much, it'll get better with practice, and isn't expected at grade 3.
