Hi all, I am after a good book with tips, techniques and tuition for the Violin but as I am sure you all know there are many titles and that is why I would like to ask for your help and opinions on what your favorite book is and / or if there is a 'Bible' of knowledge of some description.

My favourite is the English translation of 'The Art of Violin Playing' by Carl Flesch. It is packed with useful information, but still very readable.

I first read this subject as "What is your favourite book in the Bible"

Simon Fischer's two (Basics and Practice) are very good but quite expensive tomes.

Some people have to work and are somewhat restricted with times for online access. Speaking for myself, I'm generally too tired after coming home from a concert or teaching, so I don't read every single new posting.

I would recommend the two books by Simon Fischer. Full of good advice and lots of helpful photos. Not cheap, but worth every penny of the what they cost.
