Hi all,

Does any one here have either a Coda Classic, a Col Legno Supreme or a Dr Hider Virtuoso bow?

Or has anyone tried any of them? If so could you post what your thoughts and feelings about them.

I have these 3 coming to me next week on approval and would be interested in anyone else's experiences
of them

Many thanks smile.gif

I've used a Col Legno bow for playing the double-bass and I know that there are many professional orchestral players investing in them as a spare bow. They're good bows and light in weight.

Haven't tried the violin equivalent, or any of the others you mention.

Thanks AmandaL. I dealt with a company called Unison Strings, who incidentally were excellent, and they ordered 2 Col Legno bows and both had a crack in the Frog!!! Hasten to add that I was put off the lack of quality control. Also as a point of interest the Dr Hider bow, that was £115 cheaper, was apparently an exact copy of the Col legno with just a different name and also made in China!!! Me thinks that they are from the same source.

I decided on the Coda Classic in the end, the design build and refinement of quality is fantastic, the company has been around for some time and most importantly the accuracy, balance and sensitivity is superb.

Very pleased smile.gif
