I just had to post this! We have just returned from holiday in the US. We were on Shelter Island (NY), where Itzak Perlman has his summer music course. While we were there, the Chamber course was running. As my DD has just finished a summer Chamber Course, I took her to the FREE concert. To my surprise this was the faculty concert. It was truly amazing. Perlman himself played! My DD took her programme after the concert and went backstage and got the great man's autograph!! She is normally so shy. That night she fell asleep with it in her hand. I put it on the bedside table, but when I walked by in the morning, she was holding it and staring at it in admiration. It was a magical evening!

Must go and look at that. I remember seeing him play this at the RFH and the cheeky look on his face when he played the 4 consecutive Fs all on different strings BUT not in the right order (ie not EADG, but EGDA).

Only those who know the piece well would have realised, but his smile at the time was priceless! Must check if he does it on the Video!

Errrmmm...I think he does. But the video was focussed on his face at that time not his left hand, however there was a poor note and smiles and laughter in the audience which indicates to me he did do it. The comments below alude to the poor note and the laughter as a response, but they obviously have no idea why there were smirks from the audienceat that point. I would put them right, but I'm not registered...and would then inevitably het swept up in the Vengerov debate on there too. rolleyes.gif

Check out the Zino Francescatti version on you tube too, that is tremendous too biggrin.gif
